As the Liberal candidate and member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, Mark Gerretsen is a strong advocate with a proven track record for our community in Ottawa. Mark will continue his work of growing our local economy, strengthening the middle class and supporting families – while helping our community thrive as we continue building a better future for everyone.
With future generations in mind, Mark recognizes that climate change is the most pressing challenge we face today and he has been a strong voice and advocate for protecting our environment. Mark will continue fighting to protect a clean environment and the progress we’re making to ensure Canada meets its emission targets and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
As Member of Parliament, Mark has been instrumental in bringing federal investments in infrastructure, research and development, and other programs to Kingston and the Islands. Most notably, Mark delivered on his commitment to support the Third Crossing and reopening of the local prison farms.
Born and raised in Kingston, Mark earned a degree in Economics from Queen’s University. He lives in Kingston’s east end with his wife Vanessa and their three children Mason, Frankie, and Vivian (and their rescue dog Otis!).
Mark has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our community, having served as a City Councillor from 2006-2010, as Mayor from 2010-2014, and as Member of Parliament since 2015.
The residents of Kingston and the Islands deserve to continue to have a representative that understands our unique needs and interests and will continue moving our community forward.
Mark is a trusted leader with a proven track record. He will continue to be a strong voice for his community and its priorities in Ottawa.
